Urgent Help on Physics! Rotational Motion!?
Hey Guys,
I am having some trouble on a few torque problems:
1) A uniform rod of length 28mandmass 27.4 kg
is free to rotate about a frictionless pivot at
one end in a vertical plane, as in the figure.
The rod is released from rest in the horizontal
position.What is the magnitude of the initial angular
acceleration of the rod? The acceleration of
gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .
Answer in units of rad/s2.
2) A one-piece cylinder has a core section pro-
truding from the larger drum and is free to ro-
tate around its central axis. A rope wrapped
around the drum of radius 1 m exerts a force
of 3.83 N to the right on the cylinder. A rope
wrapped around the core of radius 0.5 m exerts
a force of 9 N downward on the cylinder.
What is the magnitude of the net torque
acting on the cylinder about the rotation axis?
