Stand Still Italian
Are these acronyms still in use today?
hi, i'm italian and my grandfather had lived in England (near Cambridge) during the second world war as a prisoner of war. He had learnt english very well and sometimes he helped out others italian prisoners (who couldn't speak english) traslating letters written by english girls: this kind of letters often ended with ITALY or HOLLAND, my grandfather didn't know what they stood for but those girl explained to him that ITALY stood for "I trust and love you" and HOLLAND for " hope our love lasts and never dies".
I'm wondering if these acronyms are still in use today and i'm really astonished to see how many details about those years my grandfathers still remembers and how he can still speak english after almost 60 years without talking to any english people. None of my english teachers at school has never had a good pronunciation as well as he has.
What a neat and rare connection to history! I am a World War II historian and I have never heard these acronyms used, either in the U.K. or other Allied countries. My guess is these acroynyms were very time specific (ie, used only during and right after World War 2) and I don't believe they are used today.

If your husband is Italian then Carlo or Roberto are great names how do these sound:-

My favourite is Justin Carlo Dib or Dustin Scott Dib- they are different and catchy so stand out from the normal top ten names!
At the end of the day it is your child so enjoy making the decision it isn't something to stress over it is one of those things that should be enjoyable; you will know when you hear the name or when you hold your baby in your arms.
Failing that you can always honour your parents if your stuck on a middle name and use both of their names as your sons middle names and it will make them happy.
My cousin is called:-Seth Harry Tom Allen they honoured their parents and I think it sounds great and it suits him.
or you can have your husbands name as his middle name keep it in the family.
